where such proposals will be publicly opened and read aloud. Proposals may be hand delivered or mailed to the above location and must be received at such time.

  1. Project Overview:
  • The scope of work involves the installation of an aluminum-framed storefront with a glass curtain wall system at the SUNY Upstate Medical University 2W Cafeteria.
  • The project aims to provide an aesthetically pleasing and functional exterior enclosure for the cafeteria, meeting all specified specifications and requirements.
  1. Pre-Installation Phase:
  • Conduct a detailed site inspection at SUNY Upstate Medical University 2W Cafeteria to assess existing conditions and identify any modifications or challenges required to meet the specified specifications.
  • Review architectural and structural drawings to ensure proper integration of the aluminum-framed storefront system with the building.
  1. Materials and Equipment:
  • Provide factory-fabricated, factory-finished tubular aluminum framing members, meeting all specified requirements.
  • Utilize stainless steel fasteners for secure installation of the framing system.
  • Select appropriate glazing gaskets suitable for the application to achieve the desired moisture and air infiltration requirements.
  1. Installation Process:
  • Mobilize a skilled and experienced installation team to carry out the installation of the aluminum-framed storefront system.
  • Coordinate with other trades and contractors at SUNY Upstate Medical University 2W Cafeteria to ensure a seamless integration of the storefront system with the building structure.
  • Erect temporary protection measures to safeguard the cafeteria and adjacent spaces during the installation process.
  • Assemble and install the tubular aluminum framing members, ensuring they are accurately fitted, secured, and weatherproofed according to the specified specifications.
  • Install the specified glazing in centered position (front to back) within the glazing rabbets of the framing system.
  • Apply a Class II Color Anodized Finish, specifically AAMA 611 AA-M12C22A34, to all exposed surfaces of the aluminum framing members, meeting the specified requirements.
  • Utilize touch-up materials recommended by the coating manufacturer for field application, ensuring a uniform appearance.
  1. Movement and Perimeter Clearance:
  • Design the storefront system at SUNY Upstate Medical University 2W Cafeteria to accommodate movement between the storefront and adjacent construction without causing damage to components or deterioration of seals.
  • Minimize the space between framing members and adjacent construction while allowing for expected movement, as specified.
  1. Site Cleanup and Project Completion:
  • Remove all construction debris, packaging materials, and equipment from SUNY Upstate Medical University 2W Cafeteria upon completion of the installation.
  • Restore the cafeteria and surrounding areas affected by the installation process to their original condition.
  • Obtain final inspections and approvals as required by the local authorities.
  • Provide necessary documentation, such as operation and maintenance manuals, warranties, and record drawings, to SUNY Upstate Medical University.

All work on this Contract is to be completed within 120 days after the date of the Notice to Proceed.

Section 143 of the State Finance Law requires payment of a deposit to receive these documents. Accordingly, a deposit check of $20.00, made payable to SUNY Upstate Medical University , is required. Deposits less than $50.00 are nonrefundable. Deposits will be waived for certified Minority and Women Owned and Service Disabled Veteran Owned Businesses.

(Under SFL 143 the campus has the option to waive the deposit requirement where bid documents “are made available and obtained electronically or in any non-paper form by the agency”. If the campus wishes to waive the deposit for all bidders, delete the above paragraph).

No pre-bid conference and project walk-through will be held. No individual walk?throughs will be provided.

Bids must be submitted in duplicate in accordance with the instructions contained in the Information for Bidders. Security will be required for each bid in an amount not less than five (5) percent of the Total Bid.

It is the policy of the State of New York and the State University of New York to encourage minority business enterprise participation in this project by contractors, subcontractors and suppliers, and all bidders are expected to cooperate in implementing this policy.

The State University of New York reserves the right to reject any or all bids.
