The scope of work for this project includes the purchase and installation of new insulation for pipe elbows, gate valves, fittings, strainers, and pump suction diffusers of the hot water system in the boiler room of the Pardes Building at NYSPI.

The uninsulated hot water system components and equipment are a contributing factor to the boiler room overheating to 120°F during the cooling season. This is due to heat being transferred from the conditioned hot water to the room. The high temperature of the boiler room, particularly in the summer months, can be dangerous for in-house engineering staff and contracted technicians to work in. Purpose of work; a reduction in the ambient temperature of the boiler room, making it a safer environment to work in (2 ) a lower temperature on the first floor above the boiler room, increasing occupant comfort and reducing the cooling load, and (3) a reduction in boiler load and associated energy costs due to less heat escaping the system.
