The New York State Spinal Cord Injury Research Board supports this as an opportunity to reinvigorate the spinal cord injury research community as it develops a continuum of competitive noncompetitive funding opportunity for investigator-initiated research and development of therapeutic and rehabilitative approaches for acute and chronic spinal cord injury.

Approximately $6 million is available to support awards under this non-competitive RFA. Depending on the number of eligible organizations, the total award could be as much as $300,000. Funds will be allocated each budget year and distributed evenly to all organizations that demonstrate eligibility as stated above, and the capability to utilize the funding for salaries, laboratory supplies and other customary expenses necessary to support spinal cord injury research efforts at those organizations. The anticipated contract term is from June 1, 2023, through May 30, 2028. Organizations will be reimbursed upon receipt of a voucher and brief progress report that meet established criteria.
