Orthotics/Prosthetics Devices and Services
Description:

Stony Brook University Hospital is soliciting services of both a certified Orthotist and Prosthetist to fit patients, as well as provide the necessary DME (Durable Medical Equipment). This service is for inpatients only. All products, supplies and services provided must be in accordance with Medicare rules and regulations.

This is for services through the end of the fiscal year (6/30/24).

Specifications:

SCOPE AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Provide the services of both a certified Orthotist and Prosthetist required to fit the patient properly as well as provide the necessary DME (Durable Medical Equipment)
  • This contract is for INPATIENT recipients only.
  • All product/supplies provided under this proposal (DME’s) must be provided in accordance with Medicare rules and regulations in order to qualify for payment by Stony Brook University Hospital.
  • A complete price list for each item must be submitted.
  • Delivery of custom orthotic or prosthetic devices must have follow-up within a 48 hour time frame for patients remaining in the hospital in order to ensure fit.
  • Successful bidder must be available on-site in the ED within 2 hours of an order.
  • All DME’s that come with pads and cushions must also include one extra set of each at no additional cost.
  • Must turn around custom orthotic or prosthetic devices within twenty-four (24) hours of physicians order.
  • Service must be available twenty-four (24) hours a day seven (7) days per week including holidays
  • Maintain a 24 hour hot line for service
  • Must be able to respond to all urgent requests within two hours and emergent requests within one hour. Urgent and emergent requests are communicated upon ordering.
  • Routine non urgent requests to be delivered same day if ordered in AM or next day if ordered overnight
  • Service must communicate with RN caring for the patient that Orthotic was delivered / applied.
  • A Delivery slip including signature / date / time from SB employee must be included with invoice
  • Ordering information is provided weekly including: Date / time of call for order, Patient name and unit, Called in by, Item ordered and if routine vs urgent / emergent

All of the successful Bidder’s employees or representatives having patient contact must register with RepTrax and obtain an ID badge before entering the Hospital.

SUNY intends to make an award under our discretionary authority, pursuant to NYS Education Law Sec. 355(5) (a), which is up to $125,000, for the above noted commodity/product or service. A sealed bid will not be held.
