The United Nations Development Corporation (UNDC) is a New York State public benefit corporation created in 1968 to develop and operate office space and other facilities for the benefit of the international community in the vicinity of the United Nations headquarters in New York City. UNDC financed, developed, and currently operates three buildings known as One, Two, and Three UN Plaza. Three UN Plaza, which opened in 1987, is a 15-story office building located on the south side of 44th Street between First and Second Avenues. The building is leased to the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) as its world headquarters. Three UN Plaza is managed by Cushman & Wakefield.

UNDC is seeking a general contractor to provide all material, labor, equipment, and services necessary for the renovation of two separate areas within Three UN Plaza: the Danny Kayne Visitors Centre, and Labouisse Hall. The building will be occupied and operational throughout the duration of the project and temporary measures to facilitate uninterrupted access and building services may be required.

A mandatory pre-bid meeting and walk-through is scheduled for Wednesday, May 1st, 2024. To request an invitation, please email your company name and contact information along with the names of the persons who wish to attend, a maximum of three people per company, to Priscilla Debrah at pdebrah@undc.org . The RFP document will be provided at the meeting. Only individuals who requested and received an invitation from UNDC will be allowed to participate.

The minimum required qualifications are as follows:

• Ten (10) years of experience providing general contracting services for projects of comparable scope, size, and complexity in New York City.
• Experience with, and in-depth understanding of, New York City codes, permitting requirements, and occupancy requirements.
• Firms must be licensed in New York City.
• Firms must be authorized to do business in New York State.
• Liability insurance of $10,000,000.

MWBE / SDVOB Participation Requirements

Pursuant to New York State Executive Law Article 15-A and Veterans’ Services Law Article 3, UNDC is required to promote opportunities for participation by New York State-certified minority and women-owned business enterprises (MWBEs) and service-disabled veteran-owned businesses (SDVOBs) in the performance of its contracts. The MWBE goal for this contract is 30%, and the SDVOB goal is 6%. If the contractor is not an MWBE or SDVOB, they should consider utilizing MWBEs and SDVOBs as subcontractors and suppliers.
