PLC Training Systems Technical Requirements

The Mechanical Engineering Technology department at Farmingdale State College is looking to enhance their student’s exposure to industrial automation and provide them with hands-on experience with industrial components and systems used to automate various industrial processes.

In particular, three (3) traffic light training systems, three (3) level process training systems, three (3) Electro-Pneumatic Training Systems, and two (2) modular mechatronics training systems are being sought.

General Technical Requirements for All Systems:
• Educational tabletop systems that utilize realistic integrated components
• 24 V dc control circuits
• Modular design allowing systems/components to be interconnected
• Includes educational/instructional documents such as start-up instructions, manuals, workbooks with multiple exercises per system, and videos or other media that contains instructional content
• All pneumatic equipment must be able to work with compressed air at 100 psi or less.

Educational Traffic Light Training System Technical Requirements:
• Multidirectional traffic control with pedestrian crossing signals
• Capable of simulating faults to educate students on troubleshooting
• Includes multiple 24 V dc control inputs
• Compatible with an Allen Bradley MicroLogix 1100 PLC

Modular Educational Mechatronics Training System Technical Requirements:

• Includes three or more different stations that can be joined together to make a small production line
o One station can simulate a transport system with a conveyor belt that can classify and sort parts.
o One station can store and transfer parts and replicate a press-fit process
o One station can simulate a pick and place operation
• Compatible with an Allen Bradley MicroLogix 1100 PLC or contains its own PLC.
