The District installed a structured data network cabling system, with a single MDF and several IDF in each building. This covers approximately 70 buildings and 350 wiring closets. However, not every building or IDF (data closet) was part of the District Wide Technology Project for installation as cabling existed in some locations from prior projects. Because of this gap, the District has the need to remediate the fiber interconnects of many wiring closets to conform to our district standard of having 12 strands (6 pairs) of single mode fiber from each MDF to each IDF. The District is using specific manufacturers brand name and part numbers as examples of the specifications being sought. The District will consider enterprise level equipment from other manufacturers.
