Shelter Valley Water Quality Enhancement Project, Newfield, NY
Description:
  • Contractor will be responsible for mobilization of equipment and necessary material to site and demobilization from site.
  • All wood materials for the project will be generated on-site, mostly from currently downed materials. Any trees taken down will be marked by the inspector prior to removal. All wood material must be inspected by the on-site inspector(s) prior to installation or covering by soil lifts.
  • Dewatering of the work area will be conducted via methods shown on the plans and instructions by Owner’s representative.
  • A total of 6 log rollers, 2 rock steps, 3 log/rock J-hooks, 3 rock top of riffle grade control structures and 1 cross-vane will be constructed within the stream channel and floodplain. A total of 405’ of riprap will be installed and 150’ of riprap will be reset, a total of 720’ of root wad/toe wood will be installed, 935 feet of inner berm will be installed. These will be located according to the SITE PLAN and built according to the SPECIFICATIONS DOCUMENT. On-site layout of the structures will be the responsibility of a Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) or US Fish and Wildlife Service representative. Will specify in the pre-construction meeting who will be in charge. A total of 2,384 tons of stone is estimated to be used for this project of the various size and shape specified in the SITE PLAN. This quantity may vary based on subsurface condition, quality of stone, etc.
  • Floodplains and stream channel will be relocated according to the SITE PLAN and cross-sectional diagrams. A balanced cut and fill plan is anticipated.
  • If immediate seeding (i.e.-hydroseeding) of the site cannot be accomplished within 24 hours after completion of sitework, erosion control fabric will be used to stabilize the site according the SPECIFICATIONS DOCUMENT.
  • Operations will commence in the following sequence: Refer to Sheet #2 for proposed construction sequence and the included Construction Schedule and Construction Responsibility Chart.
