The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) is investigating the availability of conservation dogs throughout New York State and neighboring states to help detect, delineate, and manage invasive species within the State. To assist in this effort DEC is releasing a Request for Information (RFI) pertinent to conservation dogs. DEC’s goal is to develop a list of potential partners/ vendors, expand our list of known conservation dog operations, explore the potential to involve new natural resource management partners, increase our knowledge of potential conservation dog programs, as well as improve our understanding of obstacles and opportunities for developing or expanding public/ private partnerships with a focus on invasive species conservation dog programs.

Information received through this RFI process will be reviewed by DEC staff and may be used to approach cooperative partners or prepare a competitive procurement for release in the future. While specific information related to existing conservation dog programs is being requested, vendors should not limit themselves to just these topics but should offer any additional information they believe will assist DEC in further understanding the potential use of conservation dog operations in New York State.
