Description: REQUEST FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST Central Avenue West Corridor Study issued by Capital Region Transportation Council Albany, N.Y. February 13, 2024 The Capital Region Transportation Council (Transportation Council) is the designated Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) carrying out federal requirements for cooperative transportation planning and programming in Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga, and Schenectady Counties (except for the Town of Moreau and the Village of South Glens Falls) in New York State. The Transportation Council is requesting expressions of interest from qualified firms or individuals to undertake the Central Avenue West Corridor Study. This project was proposed by the Town of Colonie and is intended to examine land use and transportation concepts for the Central Avenue (NY State Route 5) corridor from New Karner Road to the Colonie-Niskayuna boundary (3 miles). The study will develop a Corridor Concept Report that will include concepts for multimodal transportation improvements, access management, land use, traffic safety and operations, and more. The study is being funded by the Town of Colonie and the Transportation Council through its 2023-2024 Community and Transportation Linkage Planning Program, an implementation program of the Transportation Council’s New Visions Metropolitan Transportation Plan. The study has a fixed budget of $150,000 for consultant services. The Transportation Council, on behalf of the Town of Colonie, will administer the Consultant contract and will jointly manage the study with the Town. The Transportation Council and the Town of Colonie would like to see this study completed within 12 calendar months from the date of contract execution. Andrew Tracy will serve as the project manager and will be the primary contact for technical and administration questions.
