The Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority (NFTA) and Niagara Frontier Metro Systems, Inc. (NFTM) seeks qualified Contractors to submit proposals that meet the minimum acceptable criteria set forth herein for the performance of rewind and repair services for NFT-Metro System light rail vehicle traction motors, Westinghouse type 1463-D (bombardier.com). Work will be performed upon NFTM’s request. The upgrade rewinding of motors and performing repairs shall be performed upon request and approval of the NFTA/NFTM.

The scope of work includes the analysis of required repairs and replacing or repairing motor commutators, coils, bands, bearings, cables and connections, brushes, brush holders, and other motor components; performing necessary specialized procedures related to making rewinds and repairs such as vacuum pressure impregnation, TIG welding, potting and other practices requiring the specialized equipment and high-quality control program, approved by the NFTA/NFTM. Rewinds and repairs will be ordered by the NFTA/NFTM Engineer/Superintendent in various quantities during the term of the contract.
