Description: The New York City Department of Education (NYCDOE) on behalf of the Division of Family and Community Engagement and External Affairs’ Office of Language Access – formerly Translation and Interpretation (T&I) Unit – is seeking proposals from organizations experienced and capable in providing translation and interpretation services, at a minimum, in the top 25 languages preferred by NYCDOE families: Spanish, Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese/Traditional and Simplified), Bangla (a.k.a Bengali), Arabic, Russian, Haitian Creole, French, Urdu, Korean, Uzbek, Albanian, Ukrainian, Punjabi (a.k.a. Panjabi), Polish, Fulani, Georgian, Tadzhik (a.k.a Tajik), Nepali, Soninke, Hindi, Japanese, Yiddish, Portuguese, Tibetan, Vietnamese, with a strong emphasis on the nine (9) NYCDOE’s Covered Languages (Arabic, Bangla (a.k.a Bengali), Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese/Traditional and Simplified), French, Haitian Creole, Korean, Russian, Spanish, and Urdu.) which will result in high quality implementation of language access services. The NYCDOE’s Office of Language Access supports NYCDOE offices and public schools in their efforts to connect with families who prefer to communicate in a language other than English, to ensure equity and access for all.

This RFP may result in the award of multiple requirements agreements. The awarded contract(s) will be for a term of five (5) years. The NYCDOE reserves the unilateral option to extend the contract(s) for two (2) additional one-year periods. It is anticipated that services will commence on about July 2024.
