Tree Removal and Stump Grinding
Description:

Tree removal, we have 3 areas in which the tree removal will take place. Trees will be removed by means that preserve and protect structures and surrounding area

  • Section A refers to the camping loops and cottage area. In area A there are 28 trees that need to be removed, the trees are ash, oak and pine. Sizes of trees range from 8 inches to 40 + inches. All trees to be removed will be marked with a pink ribbon. Trees will be cut down to a Hight that easily accommodates a stumper. Limbs will be chipped to 14 inches in diameter with the chips being stockpiled in an area within the park. Logs will be cut to a length of 5 feet to be removed by park staff. Stumps will be ground to a minimum depth of 8 inches. Woody debris from stump grinding will be removed and stockpiled. No stump grinding will be required at the cottages along the bank west of the cottages.

  • Section B refers to the leased area within the park which includes a picnic area, pavilion area, marina area, cabin area and long-term camping area. This area is south of Camping loops and west of the Sampson Military Museum. There are 35 trees ranging in size from 12 inches to 40 inches. The trees are mostly Ash with a large Popular and a Large Maple. The same method will be used in section B as described in section A for removal of trees.

  • Section C. Refers to the area on the north of the museum on the north side of entrance road near the T intersection. 3 very large Popular trees that are to be removed. They must be cut down leaving a stump of 12 to 16 inches. All branches up 14 inches in size will be chipped with chips being stockpiled in a location within the park. Logs will be cut into 10-foot lengths and removed by park staff. No stump grinding will be required at this location

Completion of all services to be by April 28, 2023

Site visits can be arranged with Don Greule at 315-414-7280 on February 27, February 28, March 1, March 2 and March 3 between the hours of 8:00 am and 3:00 pm.
