The purpose of this Invitation for Bid (IFB) is to purchase four (4) truck driver simulators for installation in three (3) Career Centers located within NYC, Rochester, and Albany, and one (1) school in East Harlem, Manhattan, NYC. NYSDOL hopes that this will attract individuals to this profession. These simulators will allow prospective future truck drivers to simulate different scenarios including weather, traffic, road rage, terrain, truck loads and winds. The truck driver simulators have the ability to indicate on-screen violations and mistakes a user makes, including small mistakes that students and teachers might normally overlook. Trucking companies will have the opportunity to check the Simulator scores of job seekers before hiring. Truck driver simulators result in a higher rate of students passing their CDL test the first time.
