The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) requests information on possible approaches, methods and datasets for mapping urban heat islands (UHI) in New York State.

DEC is issuing this request for information (RFI) to determine the approaches, methods and datasets available for mapping UHIs, or if these approaches, methods and datasets can be developed. To respond to this RFI, please complete the attached form and email it to climatechange@dec.ny.gov by November 18, 2022. Please place the words “UHI RFI Response” in the subject line of the email.

This RFI is issued solely for DEC’s information and planning purposes; it does not constitute a request for proposals (RFP) or a promise by DEC or any other New York State agency or authority to issue an RFP in the future. This RFI does not commit DEC or any other New York State agency or authority to agree to participate in any transaction, proceed to negotiate any terms, pay any costs incurred in preparing a response, or to procure or contract for services or supplies. DEC reserves the right to discontinue or modify the RFI process at any time and makes no commitments, implied or otherwise, that this process will result in a business transaction or negotiation with one or more respondents. Respondents are advised that all costs associated with responding to this RFI will be solely at respondents’ expense. DEC is not at this time seeking proposals for funded projects and will not accept unsolicited proposals. Not responding to this RFI does not preclude participation in any future request for proposals, if any is issued.
